PNVXD Non-Polarized Tints

PNVXD BROWN (B):  (17% light transmission)

Brown is a very comfortable tint for the eye.  Blue light is at the end of the visible spectrum, thus blue light wavelength are more difficult for the human eye and visual system to process.  The brown tint’s filtration curve is skewed toward the blue end of the spectrum thus eliminating much of the blue light that can cause eyestrain. Brown is very effective as a tint in flat light as it will improve contrast sensitivity.  Brown will darken browns and distort color perception slightly.  Excellent tint for hunting in moderate to bright light levels.

PNVXD GRAY (G):  (15% light transmission)

Soft gray is so named because it is not a smoke gray tint and is much more comfortable to the human eye.  This soft gray tint is a neutral density filter.  Soft gray filters all wavelengths of the visible spectrum equally.  All colors remain true.  The soft gray tint has the lowest light transmission making it the darkest of the non-polarized Solar Bat® tints.  Soft gray is the best tint to wear when true color perception is required.  Excellent for hunting in the brightest light levels.

PNVXD HiVisYellow (HVY):  (27% light transmission)

Yellow/green tint is designed for hunting game such as deer or quail as it will made the white of the animal more visible against the predominately brown body.  This tint will also enhance the game against the background in the field.

PNVXD VERMILLION (V):  (29% light transmission)

Vermillion is an orange/red tint that will highlight red and orange making it a great tint for shooting orange or red clay targets or tracking blood trails.

PNVXD YELLOW (Y):  (34% light transmission)

The ultimate high contrast tint. Yellow will give you 30 additional minutes of light in both the AM and PM.  Excellent tint for hunting and shooting sports in low light situations.

PNVXD CLEAR (C):  (98% light transmission)

The clear lens is for protective purposes only.  Even though the lens is clear the presence of a lens in front of the eye will decrease light transmission by 2%.

The silver flash mirror adds to the cosmetic appearance of the lens and also decreases light transmission of gray to 10% and brown to 12%.

Dr Gary Nesty called on his knowledge of optics and the human eye to design tints to enhance vision and thus performance in your chosen sport and outdoor activities.

Doc is always searching for ways to improve the optics in Solar Bat® lenses.  As soon as the PNVXD optics were designed, Doc started the research and development of a second generation lens.  He utilized lens curve and thickness variations to achieve even better visual performance.  This second generation lens design was named PNVXD.

PNVXD lenses are 95% as scratch resistant as glass and are 20% the weight and 10 times more impact resistant.  In 2012 less than 1% of the glasses prescribed by eye care professionals in the USA were glass lenses.  Glass lenses are old technology.  If you are still wearing glass lenses you need to jump into the 21st century with Solar Bat®.

Ultraviolet wavelengths are invisible to the human eye but nonetheless harmful.  UV light causes sunburn, skin cancers, cataract, and macular degeneration to name the most recognized complications of prolonged exposure.  The Solar Bat® lens material is a 100% UV screen.  Your eyes and the skin around your eyes are protected from all harmful UV wavelengths.

A scratch resistant coating is applied to the entire lens and then reapplied to double the thickness of the coating.  With normal care your Solar Bat® will give you years of service.

Polarization is not necessary in all sport applications.  Sports activities that do not involve surfaces that produce glare do not necessitate the use of polarized lens.  Such sports include hunting, tennis, running, and cycling.  Some sports such as handball require glasses for the purpose of eye protection only.
